The Buick Electra was a full-size automobile produced and marketed by the Buick division of GM from 1959 through 1990. Throughout its thirty-year history, the Electra was offered to the buyers in a number of body styles, including hardtop, sedan, convertible and coupe, in front- and rear-wheel drive layout and a range of trim levels. Initially, the full-size Electra got its power from a 6.6L V8 paired with a two-speed manual gearbox. For 1960-1975 models, the range of power units was enriched with a 7.0L and a 7.5 LV8 as well as a new three-speed transmission. The fifth generation automobile could be had with a choice of V6 and V8 power units offered with smaller displacement, but featured an improved power output. For its final six generation, the Electra was outfitted with a 3.0L, a 3.8L or a 4.3L diesel V6.
