Dual exhausts can provide improved scavenging of spent exhaust gases, at the expense of low-end torque. Adding a balance pipe between the two halves of the exhaust system allows both tailpipes to flow gases from any given cylinder, improving scavenging even more. The X-pipe configuration is particularly effective at improving high-end power without compromising bottom-end grunt. It's superiority is at a cost - it's more complex to fabricate than a simple H-pipe system and may be more difficult to fit under some vehicles.
Borla manufactures these exhaust components in its own factory in the USA. Mandrel-bent on CNC-controlled benders, they are guaranteed to the original user on the original vehicle for one million miles of service. High-quality 304 austenitic stainless steel is used throughout, so your Borla exhaust system will never corrode or rust. Other manufacturers, including the car manufacturers fabricate so-called stainless exhaust systems out of less-expensive 400-series steel. Although 400-series steel is superior to ordinary aluminized mild steel, it can still develop ugly surface corrosion and eventually deteriorate. Professional installation is recommended, because of the necessity of working underneath the vehicle.
Borla® is the leading manufacturer of stainless steel performance exhaust products. The company began three decades ago making exhaust systems for concours classic Rolls Royce and Ferrari models, and gradually evolved to become the premier manufacturer of performance exhaust products for street, off-road and racing. Borla pioneered many improvements in the design of performance exhaust systems, holds several patents for innovative exhaust system technology, and has won numerous "Best New Product" awards.
