4WD Disconnect Axle Lock Kit by Alloy USA®. This kit replaces the failure prone original vacuum disconnect system. It includes a cable that allows you to engage and lock the front axle from inside the cab. With this kit you're guaranteed to get 4WD when you want it as long as the transfer case is engaged. It comes complete with everything required for installation, including instructions.
Many 4WD vehicles are equipped with a vacuum operated axle disconnect system. With the system, when 4WD is desired a vacuum switch allows vacuum to engage an axle mounted vacuum motor. The motor moves a fork, which slides a coupler inside the axle housing over a 2-piece splined axle shaft, locking the front axle. Unfortunately, age and the elements degrade rubber vacuum lines, which results in vacuum leaks, and the vacuum motors are also prone to leaking or seizing up. These defects will not enable front axle engagement.
The Alloy USA Differential Cable Lock Kit replaces the vacuum lines and motor with a cable to actuate the fork and coupler. With this kit, whenever you want 4WD, a 1-inch pull of the cable will ensure you have it as long as the transfer case is engaged. This kit is easier to install and more cost effective than a locker or posi-trac system. It comes complete with everything required for installation, including detailed instructions.
