In 2001, the fourth generation of the Honda Integra was introduced. For the North American market, the car was renamed the Acura RSX (Rally Sportscar eXperimental). In the USA, the car was offered only in two basic trim levels, namely the base and the Type-S. Although the RSX was a rather strong seller for Acura, it didn’t coincide with the new Acura market strategy that was developed after the decision to make Acura a global brand (before, the Acura nameplate was used only in North America while other markets saw the same models but Honda-badged). This, combined with the launch of the new Honda Civic Si that was aimed to enter the similar to the RSX market niche, forced Honda to cease the RSX. The last car was assembled on July 7, 2006.
