Product Details

Chevy Blazer 1972, Forged Dynalite Drilled & Slotted Rear Big Brake Kit by Wilwood®. Wilwood's new limited offset Forged Dynalite (FDL) Big Brake Kits upgrade solutions for OEM Disc spindles. They have completely redesigned their Pro Series line of brake kits using a larger 12.19" rotor and new forged aluminum hubs with the express purpose of maintaining the factory wheel position. This new kit does not widen the track from the original disc brake rotor assembly. Based on the venerable Forged Billet Dynalite (FDL) caliper, these versatile kits are easily optioned to suit the braking requirements and style preferences for a daily driver, serious competition, or the most discriminating show enthusiast. Most vehicle applications require no modifications for installation. FDL Big Brake kits can be used with either manual or power boost master cylinders. Kits come complete with calipers, rotors, hub assembly, brackets and hardware.

SRP Drilled & Slotted Rotors

SRP Drilled Performance Rotors feature a specially engineered directional cross drill and face slot pattern that improve brake response and pad performance throughout the entire range of light to heavy braking. The venting and cleaning action of the holes and slots will reduce pad glaze and disperse gasses and heat generated during the pad to rotor interface. The holes and slots also inhibit irregular pad compound build-up on the rotor faces resulting in smoother engagement and improved pedal response in all conditions. The material removed also contributes to lower rotating and unsprung suspension weight.

Forged Billet Dynalite™ Calipers

The Forged Billet Dynalite Internal is the strongest caliper in the class, with weights starting at 3.00 pounds. The process of stress-flow forging re-aligns the metal's grain structure within the contour of the caliper body. This process eliminates the breaks and interruptions to the internal grain structure that occur when machining a straight block billet. The FEA generated radial transition design eliminates steps and shoulders in the area between the piston housing body and the caliper bridges. Incorporating a radius in this transition area substantially increases resistance to deflection and caliper separation under load. Structural deflection and volume displacement tests have proven the Forged Dynalite to outperform all existing styles of this popular caliper size.

Hub

Forged Billet Aluminum Vented Rotor Offset Hubs are made from premium grade alloy billets are forged into shape under high heat and pressure, then CNC machined for precise fit on each spindle application. Intended for use with intermediate adapter plates, but can also be used with aluminum mounting hats for custom applications. CDP (Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth) hubs have 5 x 4.00"/5 x 4.50" wheel lug patterns.

Smartpad™ BP-10 Brake Pads

Temperature range and overall friction value are the primary considerations for pad selection. The pads must be capable of maintaining the proper amount of friction for stopping power within the temperatures that will be realized on the track during the event. Then, overall wear rate must be considered. For most asphalt and road race applications, compounds in the high temperature ranges over 1000°F range are usually necessary. Dirt track, drag race, and street performance applications usually operate at temperatures between 500° and 1000°F. Keep in mind that these are general ranges, and not absolute values. Many factors and unforeseen influences can affect brake temperatures. The best indicator for pad selection will always be on track performance. If pad fade (friction loss) due to overheating occurs, then improved cooling, a heavier rotor, or a higher temperature range pad may all become necessary.

Wilwood® Engineering designs and manufactures high-performance disc brake systems. Since founding in 1977, Wilwood has developed a substantial matrix of brake components and engineering techniques that allow us to quickly and reliably create brake systems for almost any application. Their core ability is the rapid development of custom engineered brake systems using a combination of off-the-shelf and custom components. In addition to designing and manufacturing brakes for all types of competitive motor sports, Wilwood also manufactures brake systems and components for agricultural equipment, industrial applications, utility vehicles, snowmobiles, quads, motorcycles and military vehicles.
