The Renault Laguna is a large family car produced by the French automaker Renault. The production started with the release of the first-generation vehicles in 1993 that came a replacement for the Renault 21. Until 1995 the car was released as a hatchback, but afterwards they introduced an estate version. The available range of engines included those from 1.6L to 3.0L equipped with automatic transmission.
The production of the second-generation Lagunas started in the year 2000. The second-generation Laguna was regarded as one of the safest vehicles in its class, as it won five stars on the EuroNCAP crash test for the safety systems. In 2005 there was released a restyled version named Laguna II b, which was a facelifted second-generation Laguna with several new variants of available engines. The vehicles were produced with a range of engines from 1.6L to 3.0L equipped with both types of transmission.
The third-generation Laguna was released at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2007. The new generation was based on the platform D, which it shared with Nissan Altima and Nissan Murano. The new Laguna GT was released with a four-wheel steering called Active Drive. The vehicles were available with the range of engines from 1.6L to 3.5L equipped with 6-speed manual/automatic transmission. A new facelifted Laguna III Phase 2 debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The model was based on the previous editions, still had a restyled front.
