Lexus launched its GX lineup in 2002. Derived from the third-generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, the GX entered the mid-sized SUV market and occupied the slot above the Toyota-badged counterpart. The first generation was available with a 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8, so it was known as the GX470 in all markets. Mated to a 5-speed A750F automatic transmission, the engine provided the SUV with notably high performance, both on the road and beyond. The second-generation GX was introduced in November 2009. Again sharing the underpinnings with the contemporary Land Cruiser Prado, the new GX was offered with either the GX460 or GX400 nameplate, depending on the engine installed (4.6L 1UR-FE V8 and 4.0L 1GR-FE V6 were available for some markets).

If you want your luxury SUV to perform as good as when it first rolled off the assembly line, keep its ignition system in good condition. Since their inception at the start of the 20th century, motor vehicles with gasoline burning engines have needed a precise way to deliver an electrical spark to each of the engine's cylinders. (Note that diesel engines do not rely on an electrical spark to ignite the fuel-air mixture.) For much of the past 100 years, the spark has been delivered by the ignition distributor. The distributor is always mechanically linked or timed to the engine's rotation so that the spark is sent at the exact moment it is needed.

This article will guide you through a generic tune up on most any car or light duty gasoline-powered vehicle built within the last 20 years or so. We will presume that you are tuning up your engine because it has reached the mileage or time point to do so, and that you are NOT performing a tune up to cure an engine performance defect. We make this distinction because not all running/performance issues will be solved via a simple tune up.
    • Auto Repair Parts
Since the dawn of the automobile, spark plugs have been an integral part of gasoline engines because they conduct the electrical energy from a vehicle’s ignition system needed to finalize the combustion process. After the gas/air mixture has been fully compressed inside the cylinder head, spark plugs serve a miniature bolt of lightning to create an explosion which pushes a piston downward.

2 Terminal Heavy Duty Ignition Switches
My previous switch lasted a year or so but quit working so I replaced it with Longacre Weatherproof Switch. Took a nice off-road ride today, about 120 minutes. Connections is good and wires are not hot. I recommend it to everybody.
