About Fiat Croma

The Italian auto-manufacturer Fiat announced its new large family car the Fiat Croma in 1985 as the replacement for the Argenta model. That five-door notchback was created on the 'Type Four' chassis, which was also used for the Saab 900, Alfa Romeo 164, and Lancia Thema. The Croma was the world's first passenger vehicle that featured direct injection diesel engine (Turbo Did). There was also a wide range of petrol and diesel engines available, including two fuel injected 2.0L units, with turbocharged and intercooled option, and several Iveco based turbocharged diesel engines. The 2.5L V6 petrol engine was adopted from Alva Romeo.

The new 2005 Croma, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who also created exterior accessories of the previous model, was completely redesigned as a 'Comfort Wagon,' a combination of both estate and large MPV, which shared its parts and accessories with Saab 9-3 and Opel Vectra. This large crossover wagon was based on the GM Epsilon platform. In 2007 the Croma was slightly facelifted, bringing such new Fiat Croma parts as revised grille and rear bumper along with the new interior finishes. This year Fiat decided to replace 'Comfort Wagon' name with the more usual 'Station Wagon.'

Comfortable and safe driving is achieved through the suspension system featuring MacPherson struts on the front and Multilink suspension components at the rear. The Croma standard safety level includes such Fiat Croma parts as seven airbags, comprising driver's knee bag, anti-lock braking system, and electronic brakeforce distribution. It was awarded with the prestigious five-stars in the EuroNCAP adult occupant protection crash test. A noticeable fact is that the first generation of Fiat Croma was titled as a Sempremit Irish Car of the year in Ireland in 1987.

More than just a reliable sedan, the Fiat Croma has been an expressive piece of the European automotive culture since the model made its first appearance. Dynamically shaped and ready to react, the Croma does not relent when it comes to performance, as it packs enough punch to arouse even the slightest drive-time sensibilities. A mix of a hatchback and 'crossover wagon', the Croma can chauffer the entire family or serve as pleasure-cruiser whenever called upon. A touch of sleekness coupled with soothing handling elevate the Croma to being the respected machine it has become.
