The Jaguar XE-Type first reached showrooms in the USA as a 2017 year model, and already for 2018, Jaguar gave a range of upgrades to its compact sports sedan. First of all, the engine lineup have undergone serious revision, now boasting new options from Jaguar's Ingenium engine family. The 25t model is now equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline four-banger, which came to replace the old unit that traces back to the times when Jaguar was a Ford subsidiary. This new engine delivers 247 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. The next in the lineup is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel inline-four that produces 180 hp and continues to power the 25d version. Another four-cylinder option is a new for 2018 turbo I4 that pumps out 296 hp while also displacing 2 liters. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission like all other 2018 Jaguar XE engines, it gets the all-wheel-drive variant of the XE to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Models powered by this engine are badged 30t and replace the previously available 35t with a 3.0-liter 340-hp supercharged V6. Range-topping XE S models still get power from a 380-hp version of the 3.0-liter V6.

On the technology front, new for the 2018 Jaguar XE-Type is a large 12.3'' digital display available on versions that feature the InControl Touch Pro infotainment. Other models get either a standard 8'' unit or a bigger 10.2'' touchscreen.
