Product Details

Mazda 3 2012, SP Series Cold Air Intake System by Injen®. The SP Series Cold Air Intake System is made for the enthusiast who wants maximum horsepower from a tuned cold air intake system. This cold air system positions a high-flow air filter behind the bumper, where it can take in cooler, denser air. Cooler air contains more oxygen for more complete combustion and more horsepower.

It's a well known fact that cooler, denser air contains more oxygen, and more oxygen in your engine's air intake charge means better combustion and more power. Hot air contains fewer oxygen molecules, and if your engine is fed hot air there will be less oxygen and therefore less power. Yet that's exactly what your engine gets with the factory air intake system! The solution to this problem is to install an Injen SP Series Cold Air Intake System.

Injen starts the power improvement process by positioning an Injen EA Nanofiber dry air filter behind the front bumper. Here, this free-flowing filter can take in the coolest air possible and funnel it through smooth, mandrel-bent 6061 aluminum alloy tubing. Injen designs and repeatedly tests its systems for each application to make sure they're the least restrictive, all the way to the throttle body. So, instead of power-robbing hot air squeezing through a restrictive air filter and intake duct, your engine is taking in huge quantities of cool air surging through free-flowing tubing. The result is increased horsepower and torque, and improved performance.

But unlike other cold air intake systems, Injen's patented MR (Mega Ram) Technology attains this increased intake airflow and performance while maintaining a safe air/fuel ratio. Injen steps down the diameter of the intake tube where the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor mounts, enabling the sensor to detect airflow within established parameters. The engine control computer can then maintain the proper air/fuel ratio and optimize horsepower and torque. Simply put, MR Technology tunes the intake system to avoid the necessity of recalibrating the MAF sensor, and prevents your engine from running too lean or too rich. With MR Technology, Injen created "The World's First Tuned Intake System", delivering optimum performance with a factory safe air/fuel ratio.

The SP system is carefully engineered, with CNC machined brackets and adapters, to ensure an exact fit. Installation can be accomplished with simple hand tools and everything necessary for installation is supplied, including comprehensive instructions. The SP Series Cold Air Intake System is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Injen Technology Company, Ltd., based in Pomona, California, was formed as a sister company to RD Metal Works in 1998, to utilize the experience and design capabilities that RD Metal Works had gained designing and manufacturing air intake kits for leading air filter and intake manufacturers. Since that time, the company has made it a point to stay at the forefront of performance technology, continually setting new standards for quality and improving their engineering and manufacturing capabilities. This enables Injen to regularly introduce new, cutting edge products to market and has required the company to continually expand to meet the demand for those products. Today, Injen continues to set the industry benchmark for innovation, styling and technology.

Air intake came nicely package. No bumps bangs or bends! Instantly noticed a difference in power off the line. Get another 100 miles out of a full tank of fuel. Installation was fast and easy. Directions were clear and showed a picture of the process. Thank you Injen for giving my car a little more giddy up!

This is the first opportunity I've taken, to install anything aftermarket into any car. I read reviews and accounts, but have to say, I was a skeptic. I received my box of parts, and removing the oem air box was simple. Bolting on the Injen cai was about 30 minutes of work, following the instructions given. It looks really cool, If nothing else, plus, you walk away with a box of extra parts. Getting out on the road, there wasn't a noticeable difference in the sound or feel of the car until I pushed into the gas pedal a bit. Once the car hit 3500rpm, it came to life. The to end increase was significant, and when accelerating hard, the 4 cylinder sounds mean! After about 700 miles on it, my gas mileage has improved by about 1mpg on the highway, but decreased in the city. Based on the difference I felt here, I would recommend this upgrade to anyone looking for a little more out of their car, but with budget in mind.

Great little intake. Extremely easy to install. Took me less than an hour and that includes removing the left front wheel and putting it back on. Instantly heard the intake working the first time out after the installation. Paired it with the Borla exhaust and the pickup in first gear is instantly noticeable. Great product with great performance and ease of installation. I couldn't be happier and definitely recommend it to any Mazda 3 owner!

While the product insists I fits easily into 2010-2012 models, for the 2012 model it's a little more difficult. Where the intake tube goes in 2010 models doesn't easily fit in 2012 models due to the fuse box and relay sensor box. With some pushing around, it can be fit into where it needs to go but do not let the instructions fool you. It's very annoying to put this intake in for 2012 models. Other than that it sounds and works great.

I think that the CAI is fantastic! Works great, I can see a real increase in performance from time of install. The increases at the higher speeds is great as well. The only complaint I have is with the rubber mount you install to put the intake on, is that mine squeaks. I can hear a squeak at times from this mount. No biggie just a little tweaking.
