The Volvo V70 is a line of mid-size 5-door station wagons globally marketed by the Swedish company since 1996 (1997 in North America). Featuring both, front- and all-wheel-drive layouts (depending on the trim level), the V70 was also offered with a Cross Country package, introduced for the 1998 model year. The package turned out to be rather demanded as it provided the car with notable off-road abilities with almost no compromising of the ride quality. Considering the package's popularity, Volvo decided to separate an off-road capable version of the V70 and introduced it as the CX70 in 2003.
