At one time 8 ft. beds were ubiquitous on pickup trucks, but today more of a truck's chassis is devoted to what can be carried in the cab than in the bed. Most trucks today have short (5'8") or standard (6'5") beds, so hauling long cargo like standard 8 ft. long building supplies, as well as long ladders and pipe, has become somewhat difficult. Instead of having the extra length hang out the back of the bed where it could become damaged or at worst fall out, transport this cargo safely and securely overhead with the Smittybilt Contractors Rack.

The sturdy construction of this rack enables it to carry up to 800 lbs., with the weight evenly distributed, and its adjustable design makes it easy to install in any full-size pickup, regardless of cab size or bed length. The Contractors Rack is manufactured from 2" diameter 0.120" wall thickness steel tubing, with gusseted corners for extra strength and rigidity. For the best appearance and long-term durability, all rack parts are acid dipped to remove impurities, a special "E-Coat" is applied inside and out, and finally a dual stage textured black powder coat finish is applied.

Besides it's stellar cargo carrying capability the Contractors Rack is also packed with features you won't find on lesser racks, like a built-in air deflector to eliminate cab noise, built-in tie-down anchor points to secure just about anything, and gold zinc-plated grade-8 hardware. The rack has adjustable legs and feet for complete customization and the center and rear cross bars can be removed to handle tall loads.

The Contractors Rack is easy to install and just as easy to remove if it's not needed, thanks to the supplied J-Hook mounting system that requires no drilling. However, if permanent installation is desired, it can be accomplished with the supplied hardware. The Contractors Rack comes with illustrated instructions detailing the installation procedure, and it's covered by a limited 5-year warranty against finish defects and a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Smittybilt®, located in Compton, California, is the leader in the off-road parts and accessories market because they were there at its inception. Founder Basil Smith, also known as "Smitty", was one of the original Southern California 4WD enthusiasts. He started a business called Rock-ett Products, making specialized equipment for trucks and Jeeps, in his garage/machine shop in 1956. Smitty's son Tom began working at Rock-ett at an early age and became head of the ever-expanding enterprise when it became Smittybilt in the 1970s. Under Tom's leadership, the company created innovative products like the original "Nerf Bar" side step, and tubular front and rear bumpers for Jeeps. Today, thanks to their continued involvement in off-roading at all levels of the staff, which enables them to keep abreast of the latest trends and needs in the off-road market, Smittybilt remains the industry leader with a selection of over 2000 different products for trucks and SUVs.

Awesome Rack
Looks great on my truck. I had to put it together at 530 am then load it with material, boy that was fun.

Nice Rack
The rack is a unwieldy beast to handle during assembly. For those with little mechanical history it might prove overwhelming. The instructions are wholly inadequate. They are devoid of helpful suggestions and don't effectively dictate which hardware goes to which connection point, for the one who is high functioning in mechanical aptitude these problems are overcome by simply throwing the lousy instructions in the trash.
