His first book, How to Become a Winning Crew Chief, co-written with Larry McReynoldds, won the Gold Medal from the International Society for Vehicle Preservation for excellence in a technical work. He resides in North Carolina where he is in daily contact with many of the top engine builders in the stock car racing industry.
