Super Hydra 400™ Transmission Case (SH400DRAG) by Reid Racing®. Drag/Street Version. The Turbo 400 is the favored 3-speed transmission today for high horsepower applications because of its light weight, minimal drag, and its tolerance of abuse. As rugged as it is, there is one glaring weakness; the internal case "lugs" that retain the center support and pressure plate do not go completely around the inside of the case. At high horsepower levels, the "lugs" closest to the gap become overloaded and they fail. This sets off a chain reaction and all of the remaining "lugs" fail in a zipper-like fashion ending up in a ruined transmission. Reid Racing, Inc. has redesigned the Turbo 400 to correct this problem and has added dozens of features that improve every aspect of the case.
Reid Racing® was originally part of Dedenbear Products, the manufacturer of electronics and mechanical parts for drag racers. The two companies split in 2006 and Auto Meter Products purchased Dedenbear in 2007. Auto Meter has got under control the production of electronics, while Reid Racing has continued to manufacture cutting-edge transmission and off-road parts. Committed to providing the most advanced products on the market, Reid Racing has many inventions and patents, including delay boxes, throttle stops, SuperGlide transmission cases, and steering knuckles.
