Races are often won or lost just because of the duration of their pit stops. A powerful engine, heavily upgraded suspension and other car systems, and years of racing experience aren’t enough for you to be the first crossing the finish line. Your crew should work synchronously to perform a number of actions in just a few seconds allowing you to quickly return to the track. To reach the goal, quality and durable equipment is a must. Unless you take part in Formula 1, you’ll need just a few pieces of equipment as refueling is forbidden here.
No matter what type of racing you are into, your tires are allowed to be replaced during a pit stop, which means you need a jack. An F1 pit crew uses two jacks: front and rear. The rear one has a swivel feature that allows for quickly moving out. A NASCAR pit crew needs only one jack that is used to lift each side of the car. As a result, tires are changed in pairs. Today, the industry offers an impressive range of these pieces of equipment in a variety of designs and types to meet different customers’ needs and wants. For quick tire changing during a pit stop, lever-type low-profile jacks are the finest choice. Most commonly they are made of aluminum. This is because this material is lightweight.
There are also other pieces of equipment offered for pit stops. As an example, timing boards are used to show information to the racers passing through the pit area. There are also specially designed trolleys, some of which allow for quick transportation of tires, while others are used to transport air bottles. Tire pressure gauges, carburetor boxes, fuel jugs, and many other products aim to help mechanics do their job fast and as easy as possible.
