The unique Jeep Jeepster was originally produced from 1948 till 1950, then this name was applied to a new C-101 Jeepster Commando since 1966. After the World War II, Jeep trademark owner, Willys-Overland Motors, felt the need for new vehicle that could fill the gap between the utilitarian Jeep CJ models and passenger cars. Realizing incompleteness of the product lineup, the company began developing the Jeepster to meet the requirements of this emerging segment. Talented designer Brooks Stevens, who was in love with sports cars, created the distinctive boxy styling of the Jeepster. Initially, Stevens imagined the Jeepster as a two-seater, however, management of the company realized that two-passenger cars have very limited market demand so the concept was expanded to seat five passengers. The fabulous Jeepster had similar to the Willys wagon and pickup front-end styling, but featured a fancier look thanks to stainless-steel T bar in the grille.  In total only 19,132 Jeepsters were manufactured through their production cycle.
