The Jeep Comanche or MJ was a compact two-door pickup truck manufactured between 1985 and 1992. Though its ancestor was the Jeep Scrambler, this vehicle was based on the Jeep Cherokee compact sport utility vehicle. Except the base trim named SporTruck (1987-1992), the model was offered in the following trim levels: Custom, X, XLS – 1986; Chief – 1987-1988; Laredo – 1987-1990; Pioneer – 1987-1992; Olympic Edition – 1988; Eliminator – 1988-1992. Just from the very beginning of production, there were three engines available: a 2.1L I4 turbo diesel, 2.5 L I4 and 2.8L V6. In 1987, the latter was dropped and a new, large 4.0L I6 replaced it.
