The first-generation Toyota Camry went on sale in the United States in 1983, and was immediately a winner. The Toyota Camry was available with 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines, and 1.8- and 2.0-liter diesel engines, and could be purchased as either a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback. All of the Camry's engines drove the front wheels through a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic gearbox on the 2.0 versions. Tweaks throughout the car's life included uprated shock absorbers, an electronic instrument cluster and an alarm. In 1986 the second-generation Toyota Camry was launched, with a five-door station wagon model added to the range. The new Camry was more aerodynamic than its predecessor, and also better equipped, while a four-wheel-drive system and new 2.5-liter V6 gasoline engine were also introduced. The Toyota Camry Mk2 continued until 1991. Haynes Manuals Toyota Camry repair manual will be able to provide all the help you need, whether you're servicing or repairing your car.
