The Porsche 911 hit the shores of North America in 1965. These early cars were powered by a 128hp air-cooled 2.0-liter flat six motor that was mounted out behind the rear wheels. It's a configuration that the 911 adheres to still. There was a choice of two gearboxes - a five-speed manual or a four-speed manual. In 1966 the more powerful 911S was launched. The 911 continued with various engine and power tweaks and then in 1975 the first 911 Turbo was launched. In 1976 the Carrera 3.0 was introduced too. This shape of 911 soldiered on until 1989. Haynes Manuals Porsche 911 repair manual will be able to help whether you're servicing or repairing your car.
