Dee Zee’s polyurethane storage chest is designed with the fact in mind that storage chests usually face hard knocks. The Poly Chest is built of durable polyurethane that is very difficult to puncture, crack, tear, dent, or crush. A double-walled lid and high-strength frame latticework inside the chest gives added torsional rigidity that comes in handy should it be used somewhere where weight is stacked on top of it. Its resistance to deforming will prove extremely valuable when heavy objects in a pickup truck bed slide into it around turns. Even if it happened to fall off a trailer and bounce along the road, it would survive intact under stress.
Once the chest is locked by slipping a padlock in either of the two adjoining tabs, what’s inside will stay secure because this container is one tough nut to crack with a hammer, saw, or even a pick axe. Use the Poly Chest on beach trips because its lid features a foam seal around its perimeter to provide a tight seal for keeping temperatures inside insulated, and keeping unwanted sand out. Plus, two cup holders are even molded into the top of the lid! All parts are made from urethane, so there is nothing to corrode or degrade. Is it waterproof?

Hi, the manufacturer does not use the word "waterproof" in describing the product; they do state that "Overlapping lid deflects water".
