Unveiled in 1965, the Cadillac Calais was a full-size luxury car representing the entry-level range by the American vehicle maker. The Calais was actually the new badge for the Cadillac Series 62, the tried and tested model which was presented on the market since 1940. Unmistakably a Cadillac car, the Calais was available in different body styles, a 4-door or 2-door hardtop and 4-door sedan. The overall styling followed the contemporary trend in car designing, introducing however sharp and angled lines which were popular in the 1970s. Despite being an entry-level car, the Cadillac Calais was offered with a good standard equipment, including power brakes, power steering, and automatic transmission. In 1971 the second-generation Cadillac Calais was launched and its production went on until 1976, when the model was eventually dropped.
