APR Performance Custom Hoods

The louvers' design requires that a hole be cut in the hood in order to mount them. The issue with that is that the units themselves appear fairly cheaply made. So the first question is whether to cut two holes ($1000) in your hood for two accessories which appear to be worth less than $100. In short, the risk to benefit ratio is high. Considerable planning and significant modification of the vents was necessary before making any cuts in the hood. So, you had to commit to keeping and irreversibly changing the vents before deciding whether to use them on your car. For my RS5, fitment was not universal and a lot of machining, with shop tools, was necessary to make them work. I am pleased with the final outcome, but I am also sure that, out of the box, they were unusable and a tad tacky. For another vehicle, with different hood bracing, installation would likely be a lot more straight forward. With no modification, though, they might still appear a bit "plasticy".
