If your engine stalls while decelerating to stop the vehicle, its speed becomes low while decelerating in turns, or idling speed is low or inconsistent, you may have a malfunctioning air mass sensor. It is located in the intake air stream and measures the volume of air entering the engine. The hot wire component of this sensor cools when air mass flows past. The electronic circuit component measures this change in temperature and converts it to a voltage or frequency signal. This information is transmitted to an ECU (engine control unit) to determine the amount of fuel that should be delivered to the engine so the vehicle can perform optimally.
This air mass sensor by Hitachi, a world class quality leader, accurately controls the engine’s air/fuel ratio for improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. Hitachi Automotive Systems uses advanced electronic-sensing and control technology and integrated hardware and software to provide improved fuel efficiency and reduce harmful exhaust emissions without sacrificing power, cost-effectiveness, or the driving performance of the vehicle.
