Running boards allow for a wider stepping surface as well as offer higher weight capacity than most nerf bars. Also, when picking out a set of running boards, you can choose from a variety of designs, textures, and other options to achieve the perfect style you've been striving for.
The first choice is between the bar/step type and the true running boards depends on the way you use the vehicle, and on your personal preferences. However, not all choices are that clear, and there is an array of both universal and custom fit running boards to choose from. Just be prepared, and realize that only high quality running boards and side bars will look good after a couple of years of use.

"I received my shipment promptly. The installation was the easiest, by far, of any side bar I have ever done. They look great and work excellent at a great price. I'm very pleased with this product."

"Everything was perfect with the exception that the steps have an ugly cross in the center of each step in between the holes. These crosses are not in the product pics and info from CARiD, I called CARiD and the manufacturer said there is nothing they can do :[ I'm disappointed cause their pic show something different to what I got."

"- Installation was not difficult but aligning the brackets and running boards for a level fit was more art than science. I had to muscle a few of the screws and brackets into place to get a reasonably level seat by the running boards. Two people are recommended for installation. - I was hoping for a closer match between the brushed metal finish and my silver Tacoma. It turned out alright, though. - The side steps are sturdy and I am reasonably happy with their appearance and value."
