Wiring for your trailer can be as simple as plugging in a premade harness to your truck's rear lights, totally brainless. If you aren't fortunate enough to have a truck that Tow Ready have a t-harness for, well, you may have to splice some wires, no big deal. It seems there are a bewildering number of different trailer connection plugs, from simple flat 4- wire plugs to 7-blade plugs as big as an apple. Tow Ready have adapters to let you plug almost any trailer into any truck that's wired for a trailer.

Next problem: your car or truck has separate turn signals and brake lights. Trailers almost always use integrated brake/turn signals. Fortunately, Tow Ready have adapters that intercept the signals to the trailer lights and make everything blink when it's supposed to.

Intelligent trailer braking is the key to the success of the Tekonsha® family of braking products. Established in 1964, Tekonsha technology can be found in some of North America's leading vehicle manufacturers… a testimony to its superior performance history when it comes to stopping trailers. Smooth, predictable stopping at all speeds has made Tekonsha’s Prodigy®, Primus® and Voyager® trailer brake controls "best of class" and the most popular available today. As the industry leader in electric trailer brake controls and breakaway systems remember… "No matter what you are towing, Tekonsha can help you stop it".

Wiring Harness Works Well
Tekonsha® - T-One Connector with Upgraded Circuit Protected ModuLite® HD Module
I've only installed generic wiring harnesses previously; you know, the kind where you have to cut and splice wires. I was very glad to find this one, where you, in essence, insert the wires between connectors the vehicle already has. The system works well. All the lights on my trailer worked the first time I tried connecting it to the system. Also, I like the fact that this system will not overload the vehicle's original wiring system. Even though this is the system specified for my vehicle (2014 Kia Sportage), the instructions missed informing the user about a panel under the vehicle that had to be removed. The panel is on the driver's side, just in front of the rear bumper, and is removed by removing two screws. If you don't remove the panel, you cannot find the t-connector that is under the vehicle. Once I figured that part out, the installation went well. Of course, it would have been easier if I had been able to raise the vehicle off the ground a bit. In any case, the wiring harness works well and I am very satisfied with it.
