The fourth generation was unveiled in 1980 and became the Car of the Year in Japan in the year of its introduction. The next version featured the new modernized B-series engine, offering also the turbocharged 4x4 drive option. Further generations carried modernizations in body shape and powertrain; with the final one (1998-2003) featuring a considerable makeover, including the new suspension and redesign.
