There’s no feeling in a performance car quite like the driving enjoyment that comes from replacing worn steering components with new, beefed-up ones. Instant, quick response takes the place of slop and excess play similar to what the original owner of your classic enjoyed. And there’s nothing like the peace of mind knowing that components you use feature higher-strength steel and triple lip seals that will keep your parts working like new longer by keeping the heaviest dirt and grit out. If you’re upgrading tired parts in your steering system, Hotchkis makes it easy to start with the replacement Idler Arm.

The Idler Arm bolts on with no modifications required, so you’ll be able to hit the track in no time. Hotchkis believes high-performance parts are nothing without durability, and takes great care to ensure these arms are built to maintain their integrity over sustained, heavy-duty use. For example, forged, heat-treated housings and ball studs provide more strength than standard-spec components. All hardware is stainless steel for a lifetime of freedom from corrosion, so seized and rusted nuts and bolts are one thing you won’t need to face should you need to make adjustments down the road. Hotchkis uses maximum strength “carbon steel” (steel with a higher carbon content than most) that’s harder than typical stainless steel and extremely resistant to bending or denting. The best knives are made from it, and it’s used in a wide variety of heavy-duty industrial applications such as shipbuilding, electrical power plants, and pipeline construction.

Electrocoating (Or E-coating) is a finishing process widely known by auto manufacturers to be the best way to apply paint. Hotchkis goes the extra mile and uses this process when painting steering kit components. Upon submersion into the paint, a positive electrical charge is applied to the steel and an opposite negative charge is applied to the paint solution. A seamless bond between the steel and the paint is created, forming a uniform protective coating that resists flaking or cracking. Hotchkis proudly builds all components in the United States, and backs them with a 3-year warranty against failure due to manufacturing defects.

Founded in Santa Fe Springs, California in the late 1960s during the height of the original muscle car boom, Hotchkis® got its start building products that blessed GM, Mopar, and Ford performance cars with new abilities to corner and handle with stability at racetrack speeds. As the company's reputation for building quality products grew, Hotchkis components soon found their way onto all kinds of vehicles that were not made to go fast in any way, shape, or form. It didn't take long before station wagons, convertibles, and pickup trucks were wheeling around tracks all over Southern California with the tenacity of sports cars. After decades of developing suspension-enhancing products that have led to victories in championship racing events, slalom track competitions, and street challenges, Hotchkis has refined and perfected their manufacturing techniques to become the internationally respected company they are today.
