There are currently no open-top models in Cadillac’s lineup. The last convertible, the XLR, was terminated in 2009, but if a report by Car and Driver is to be believed, it won’t be long until the drop-top Caddy is back to the dealerships. Thus, the company is rumored to be working on a new convertible model.

Striving to revive the past glory of the Cadillac Eldorado, which was by far the longest running American luxury vehicle, Cadillac will possibly produce a new soft-top convertible, based on the Alpha platform. However, it’s unlikely that the new vehicle will resemble the famous Eldorado - according to the insider sources, it will sit between the ATS and CTS models.

Nothing is yet known about the vehicle's engine. The new convertible is expected to be unveiled sometime in 2013 or 2014. It has also been said that Cadillac is going to make the price affordable, but we may only guess what affordable means to one of America’s top luxury marques.
