Trailer Wiring Harness & Components

Trailer tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals are one of the most important safety accessories that are required by law. Without these lights, other drivers and pedestrians will have a hard time noticing your trailer and understanding your maneuvers. This is because the trailer you're pulling is usually wide enough to obscure your vehicle's lights. Trailer lights are designed to perform the same functions as your vehicle's lights. They help other road users notice your trailer in time and warn them that you are turning, stopping, changing directions or lanes, etc. So if you want to avoid collisions, make sure your trailer lights are in top condition.

Trailer lights tend to take a beating. They burn out over time or corrode when exposed to harsh elements. You can also damage them when loading and unloading your cargo. However, the most common issues with trailer lights are faulty wiring harnesses and connectors, loose and frayed wire connections, etc. Need high-quality electrical accessories to restore the operation of your trailer lights? Choose from our selection of premium wiring harnesses, connectors, lighting modules, and other related products. The electrical accessories stocked in our online store also come in handy when equipping your trailer with new lights.

As a rule, trailer wiring consists of a plug connected to the vehicle's lighting circuit, a connector on the trailer that matches the plug, and a wiring harness that runs along the trailer's frame. On our website, you'll find all these accessories and many more. No matter whether you're upgrading to LED tail lights, installing tow lights, or anything in between, we have everything you need to make wiring easy. We offer wiring harnesses and connectors from the most trusted manufacturers in the industry to guarantee they deliver exceptional quality and dependability. Made using heavy-duty materials and up-to-date equipment, they are durable enough to withstand high temperatures, vibration, and other demanding conditions.

Depending on the functions you need, you can choose from connectors with four to seven pins. Standard 4-way connectors are ideal for the basic hookup. They are designed to ensure reliable transfer of power to the trailer tail lights, brake lights and turn signals, and feature one pin for the ground wire. This type of connectors is used mostly on lightweight trailers that are not equipped with brakes or other accessories that require power. However, trailers with a capacity of more than 3,000 lbs have brakes, so they require a connector with at least 5 pins. 5-Way connectors are very similar to 4-way connectors but have an additional pin that provides power to actuate electric brakes or disable hydraulic brakes.

6-Way connectors also allow you to hook up three basic trailer lights and have a ground pin. Two other pins are usually used for electric brakes and 12V hot lead. 7-Way connectors are the most widespread connector type since they are found on most modern pickups, SUVs, and vans. They provide all the functions of the 6-way connectors while also having an additional pin for the back-up lights. With so many different types of connectors, chances are the connector on your vehicle will differ from the one on your trailer. In this case, you need an adapter that will help create a connection between two different connector types. Also, keep in mind that sometimes with an adapter you may need additional wiring.

I don't know what you can say about a piece of plastic other than to say that it fit as it should and I've had no issues. It was sent quickly and arrived undamaged.
