The IZOD IndyCar Series headed to the Texas Motor Speedway. Organizers arranged a non-championship drifting competition. The Ultimate Drifting competition was presented by The Scion and Motegi Racing, 8 drivers competed in tandem battles. Team Need for Speed's Fredric Aasbo was on hand along with FD regulars. Fredric was using this event as a semi-farewell to his well-known Toyota Supra.
Toyota Supra is not the best choice for drifting. The front of this vehicle is heavier than the rear, because of uneven weight distribution, the traction to the rear wheels becomes difficult. For the drift drivers usually look for Nissan Silvia and Mazda RX-7, these cars have equal weight distribution, that's why they are easier to handle. This is why you dont see many Supras on the drifting events.
Team Need for Speed driver, Fredric Aasbo, said goodbye to his Toyota Supra Chucky with a bang at Ultimate Drift Texas presented by Formula Drift. The crowd went nuts as the drifters put on an action-packed demonstration before the start of the Indy race. Aasbo took the victory with Kyle Mohan in 2nd and Roland Gallagher in 3rd.
