A mid-size 2-door coupe / convertible, the Toyota Solara was produced between 1998 and 2009. In fact, the model's nameplate was the Camry Solara, but the "Camry" part of its name was used rarely. The Solara was constructed on the Camry sedan, featuring, however, a unique design with heavily creased sides, different front and rear fascia, and swooped roofline. The model originally came with a 2.2L 5S-FE engine capable of 135 hp or 3.0L 1MZ-FE V6 power plant rated at 200 hp. Both motors were revamped versions of fourth-generation Camry ones. In the summer of 2003 a completely redesigned second-generation Solara debuted. Though, its production run wasn't very long – the automobile was discontinued in 2009.
