Tired of bending tie rods when negotiating poorly-groomed construction sites, or off-roading? You could reinforce them with some angle iron and a MIG welder, but that's risky unless you're a qualified welder - and know how to do it without ruining the temper of the metal or baking the rubber seals in your steering joints. Sorry, backyard mods like that usually make the tie rod break right at the end of the reinforcement instead of bending. (It's easier to drive back out of the woods with a bent tie rod then with a broken one, trust them, and don't ask how they know…) Aftermarket high-strength tie-rods are an answer, but they're not cheap. In addition, the installation involves a trip to a suspension shop and a session on the alignment rack. Again.

ReadyLIFT's Reinforcement Kit will let you install these sleeves yourself in a half-hour or so, without special tools or an alignment rack. These thickwall steel sleeves simply slip over your stock tie rods. Loosen the OEM jam nut, and mark the threads with a Sharpie so you can reinstall the rod end to the same depth. Then unfasten the rod end, unscrew the outer tie rod, and remove the jam nut without erasing your Sharpie mark. Thread the Reinforcement Kit sleeve onto the inner tie rod, past the mark. Screw the outer rod end on until it hits the mark. Then reinstall the rod end to the steering upright, and countertighten the sleeve to serve as a jam nut. The thick, hardened sleeve will be very hard to bend.

Henderson NV is smack in the middle of a lot of off-roading activity. That's where ReadyLIFT® is based, in order to be close to their customers and their needs. About 12 years ago, ReadyLIFT founder and CEO Scott Poncher realized that there was a market for people who wanted to lift their trucks only a few inches, not the six inches or more that most lift kits were set up to do. A few inches were enough to make the truck's stance level (instead of drooped down in front, as seems to be common today), or to accommodate slightly larger wheels and tires. There was no option for these customers that didn't raise the truck more than necessary, was easy to install and reasonably priced. And so ReadyLIFT was born to bring a line of reasonably-priced, but still highly-engineered and well-made moderate-rise lift kits to market.
