Front Lower and Upper Ball Joint Kit by Omix-ADA®. Direct Fit. Ball joints provide pivot points for the steering knuckles, allowing them to move up and down as well as turn. Ball joints can fail from lack of lubrication and contamination if the dust cover becomes torn. Excessive play can cause noise and looseness that can in turn affect handling and wheel alignment. As its name implies, a ball joint is comprised of a ball fitted inside a machined socket. A tapered stud attached to the ball fits into a tapered hole in the steering knuckle and is then secured with a nut. Unfortunately, most ball joints from the factory are so called "lubed for life" and do not have a means of applying additional lubrication. On such joints the grease degrades with subsequent wear to the ball and socket, and if the dust boot becomes torn this process is accelerated when dirt and other contaminants are introduced into the joint.
New ball joints from Omix-ADA will make your suspension right again, and they're greasable, so you can make lubricating your suspension part of your regular maintenance again. Except for being greasable, these joints are the same as OEM in every respect, so they'll install and function like original equipment.
