2011 Mercedes SL R230 Black Edition By Prior Design

Prior Design is not a stranger for the Mercedes SL R230, producing an aggressive performance package for the sport vehicle last year. This package was inspired by the SLS AMG roadster.

This tuning package has a milder design modifications including a new front bumper, front fenders, front bonnet, and front lip spoiler exaggerating the curves of the SL model’s original front end.

The side skirts were also modified to drive attention to the restyled rear end of the vehicle. One of the most interesting rear-end changes is the trunk spoiler. The new bumper, rear widenings and a rear diffuser were added. The model was fitted with a set of concave design wheels. The interior has a combination of black and red leather making it just terrific. The stock steering wheel was replaced with a three-spoke one, the interior was also stylized with various carbon fiber inserts.

The new package for the SL-Class doesn’t match the hardcore design of the previous package, though the modified sports car looks classy and edgy.

The leading German automotive brand plans to reveal its new roadster. The official release date of the new Mercedes-Benz SL-Class has not been announced yet. There are some talks that the new SL-Class model will be unveiled at the end of 2012. The new roadster will be built at Mercedes' main factory in Sindefingen. It is expected that the seventh generation of the SL-Class will share its platform with the forthcoming rear-wheel-drive SLC model. The new two-seat roadster promises to have the increased interior space due to the longer and wider wheelbase. It looks like the 2013 SL-Class will go on a diet. Unlike the current model, that features a high-strength steel body, the new roadster's body structure will be manufactured using lightweight aluminum. Thus the car weight will be reduced by 440 lbs. The spy shots, posted by Motor Authority.com, show the future SL-Class model with angular LED headlights, large grille and tapered rear end.

As for the engine power, the standard package will feature a 3.5-liter V6 engine, that will produce 302 bhp. Also the customers will be offered a 429 bhp twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter V8 engine. The AMG will prepare its own version with twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine, that will be ready to produce 536 bhp. The Black Series model most probably will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 engine, that will deliver 630 bhp. There are still enough rumors, based on the unconfirmed information, about pricing, technical data, interior and on-board technologies of the new Mercedes-Benz SL-Class model. The truth will be found after the official presentation.
