The standard power plant utilized by the Ford F-250 was a 5.4 L Triton V8 generating 255 horsepower, connected to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The base version of the truck was two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive layout was offered as an option. In 2005, the F-250 as well as the entire line was updated. It received more powerful engines and larger alternators. As for the appearance, the model came with a new grille, headlights and front bumper; a locking tailgate was introduced as well.
