When it comes to your SUV, PS fluid is used in your power steering system to offer hydraulic assist to your inputs while turning the steering wheel. The majority of these fluids are either synthetic or mineral oils blended with various additives to improve lubrication, prevent corrosion, suppress foaming, and so on. It is very important that you check and replenish the power steering fluid regularly. And for you to do so, you have to locate the pump and the fluid reservoir in the engine bay of your BMW X3. Most of the time, the pump is belt-driven, with the reservoir just up on top of it.
You should remove any grease or dirt from the fluid reservoir and open the cap. There will be a dipstick on the underside of it, or measure markings on the reservoir so that you can check the low or full fluid levels. If the fluid level has gone down, then go ahead and add the necessary amount. Do not overfill the reservoir because it could lead to the fluid leakage if there will not be enough space when the fluid expands due to high temperature.
