Yakima® 8004088 - Rooftop Fishing Rod Box
Have this on a trailer, it’s expensive but it keeps my rods from getting tore up accidentally. Lots of complaints online about the hinges and springs, i haven’t had these issues, but you should know if you are interested in this product. I am gentle to open and close this thing putting equal pressure on both sides (it’s long and if u close it on one side only it puts load on one hinge and not the other. I’ve had no issues closing and opening it with both hands placed equally apart to minimize improper loading. my only real complaint is you cannot take the keys out while the lock is in the unlocked position. i store this in my garage with the top open so i can work on the poles easily. once i left my keys in the lock and forgot where they were. what a headache that was. Now i open the top, turn the lock (which prevents it from closing) and take my keys out. it can fit more than 8 poles if needed but i use it to store several poles on the spaces provided for them as well as a 8’ power pole micro anchor, a push pole (super stick) a paddle (taken apart in two pieces, a life jacket, a sabiki rod, some tackle containers and a few other small things. I’m happy with this product. Now that I’ve had it, i wouldn’t want to go back to not having it. loading poles and gear in the back of my car with eyelets getting all tore up, no thanks. Also, I saw a review online where someone went crazy about it damaging cork handle rods. the review disputed that fact but I’ve noticed that the rubber strap that secured the rods does mark them up somewhat but it’s an aesthetics issue only.
