The 280Z was offered in 1975 in the U.S., which is not to be confused with the 280ZX, that is a 2nd generation Z-car. The model got another enlargement of engine displacement up to 2.8L. A considerable upgrade was the offering of the Bosch fuel injection, so as to replace the previous carburetors. The power was increased up to 170 hp, thus being able to offset increased weight, gained from additional luxury features and bigger U.S. Federal Regulations bumpers. Most of export markets beyond North America were offered the Datsun 260Z, until the coming of the Datsun 280ZX at the end of 1978.
