Ahead of the Paris Auto Show, the 2014 Jaguar F-Type was unveiled at Musee Rodin, Paris. The all-new convertible is the first two-seater sports vehicle produced by Jaguar since the E-type, introduced 50 years ago. Powerful and opulent, the new F-Type is said to provide maximum agility, performance, and driver engagement. The vehicle will be offered in three trims: the range-topping F-Type V8 S, the mid-spec F-Type S, and the base F-Type, delivering differing levels of performance. Thus, the base model will be equipped with a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 pushing 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, while the F-Type S vehicle with the same powertrain will produce 380 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line F-Type V8 S got a supercharged 5.0-liter engine delivering 495 hp along with 460 lb-ft of torque. All the models come with an eight-speed ''Quickshift'' automatic transmission, including both a gear selector lever and paddle shifters instead of Jaguar's standard gear selector knob.
The S models will also get profit from an ''Active Exhaust'' and optional ''Configurable Dynamics'' program that has features like a G-meter display and lap timer. The overall weight of the Jaguar F-Type is nearly 3,521 pounds. Thanks to its all-aluminum structure, this is a light vehicle with an excellent weight distribution. The exterior of the F-Type is muscular, sinuous, and elegant. The vehicle features LED tail lights, J-blade LED running lights, and xenon headlights. The side vents and grille are covered with a hexagonal mesh.
First sales of the 2014 F-Type are scheduled for next summer.
