The Honda Prelude is a 2-door sports coupe introduced in 1978. The car was in production until 2001, featuring five generations. The Prelude is technically related to the first generation Accord sharing the engine, brakes, struts with it. The Prelude nameplate was originally utilized by Toyota, but was given to Honda for use. It was the first of the musically related names applied by Honda and was followed by the Concerto, Ballade and Quintet. The car was aimed to compete with other Japanese vehicles such as the Toyota Celica, the Nissan Silvia and the Mitsubishi Eclipse.
