Trailer Hitch by CURT®. These receiver hitches allow you to add a hitch receiver to replace the factory bumper ball mount. This means the hitch ball and its ball mount can be removed and stowed when not trailering. It also allows the use of equalizing hitches to transfer excess tongue weight to the front axle of the vehicle. A hitch receiver is also a handy place to mount a bicycle rack, cargo carrier or other receiver-mounted accessory. A receiver-mounted winch or step are good examples.

CURT Towing 101 CURT - F.A.Q CURT - About

Features:

  • Replaces factory bumper-mounted ball
  • Allows use of receiver-mounted accessories
  • Upgrade factory-mounted receivers to higher weight class
  • Permits use of equalizing hitches
  • Choose hidden or exposed receiver tube

If your vehicle already has a factory-mounted hitch receiver, it may not be rated to tow the trailer you’d like to. Bearing in mind the Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating of your vehicle, you may wish to upgrade the OEM receiver with one of higher capacity. Choose between a “hidden” receiver that lurks right under the bumper, or a hitch receiver that sets lower to the ground and allows the use of a ball mount with less drop.

Required a little grind work to get it to fit. Very strong piece, wish it hung a little higher off the ground. Occasional scraping occurs. Recommended to active people! Bang for the buck!

This trailer hitch was extremely easy to install. It only took me 30 minutes, including the time I had to spend looking for my torque wrench. It looks great and it does a fantastic job pulling my light-duty trailer.

Bought the Curt for a 2103 Toyota Tundra to increase hauling capacity. It installed perfectly and matched the existing holes, but I also used the right hand tools for the job. I completed the installation alone in about 30 minutes but used a jack as a second pair of hands. It not only fits exact but the density of the hardened steel will make it durable for the intended use. Great buy for the money.

So I have done other installs of Curt products over the years with little problems, but this one leaves me just a little cold. First off, the product quality of the control box, including connectors and wiring is excellent. No issues here. Now, the disappointment. The instructions are barely adequate and there is not enough detail about routing of the green wire and placement of the control box. The green wire that runs to the right tail light is too short. I have read about this on other reviews, so I am not alone. To put the control box in the bottom of the left taillight area which is where it needs to be, (forget frame mounting) I had to add close to two feet (2') of green wire to get over comfortably to the right tail light. I routed the green wire through the metal bumper channel so it is protected and does not require cable ties or other attachments. Running the 12 volt wire to the front was easy as I followed the brake lines up to the engine compartment, however used about 15 cable ties to secure the wire to the lines in a way that is safe. There are only 3 included with the kit. This wire was long enough and I probably cut off about 18 inches. Curt, you either need to update this product or give better instructions on how you meant to have this installed with the supplied green wire length. Would I buy this again? I would look at competitors products first. My experience - a car, truck, diesel, off-road equipment mechanic, for over 40 years.

Just as advertised. If no power, be sure to investigate installation of OEM tow converter. They "work" together. No splicing of wires for either and works like a charm.

Installed on a 92 Buick Park Ave. Went on like a dream. Very well made, excellent quality. Very pleased with it. This is my work car and now I can pull my small boat without having to get truck out.

The product arrived in a timely manner and was installed after 2hours of hassle with aligning holes and widening holes so that 4 of the 6 bolts would fit. The last 2 bolts were the wrong size so after a trip to the hardware store and purchasing the correct size of bolts and then drilling out 2 holes to use them in. Bottom Line: The hitch will work but a lack of quality in the initial welding and hardware stock made this a real pain in my **s.

The installation was fairly easy but doing it alone was a little more difficult. I recommend having someone with you to assist in lifting and positioning in place. I have only used the hitch to tow an unloaded trailer so far but see no reason to think I will have a problem. Seems like a very good product to me and I have no problem recommended it to others. The only reason I gave a 4 on value was because of the cost of shipping but this is not the fault of the seller.
