A grinding noise is the number one reason why vehicle owners bring their four-wheel friend in for brake repair. Most people think this noise is caused by worn out shoes. In reality, worn out or damaged brake hardware doesn't secure brake parts properly resulting in the brake noise. When brakes need to be replaced, it's extremely important to do the job right for reliable, efficient, and quiet braking performance. Drum brake hardware functions reliably in the harsh, dirty environment inside the brake drum for many thousands of miles, but eventually heat and wear take their toll. That's why all its parts and hardware should be inspected and replaced whenever brake shoes are replaced. New brake hardware makes a world of difference and gives you the confidence in knowing that the job was done correctly. With this product by Carlson, you can say good bye to irritating brake noise while restoring line-new braking performance.

Not the Quality I Was Expecting for a Usa Made Product.
Carlson® - Rear Drum Brake Hardware Kit
Purchased this kit on Ebay for $35.99. Installed in my 1970 Thunderbird rear brake system. Within less that 300 miles my rear brakes failed. Upon inspection the brake linings disintegrated. Upon replacing the brake shoes I noticed that the compression springs didn't hold the shoes tightly. SO I ordered a new hardware kit from NAPA. When comparing the the old to new, the Carlson compression springs were badly compressed and offered little retention support for the shoes. Further inspection revealed the holding pins were bent and much smaller in diameter than the NAPA brand. Also the other retaining springs were enlongated and offer much less tension. The Carlson kit I purchased was for a 1967-70 Thunderbird, but the quality of the kit wasn't up to the task. Hopefully the NAPA kit will last much longer. I noticed the Carlson price for the kit is under $6, sure not worth the $36 I paid.
