The chip works on Ford Power Stroke engines. The Power Stroke models gain up to 75 additional horsepower. This chip plugs into the ECM of your Ford Power Stroke Diesel’s engine computer allowing you to choose any of four engine tunes on-the-fly. One switch position provides unmodified engine tuning, while the 6th gives a fast idle. Bully Dog’s 6 Position 4 Bank Chips run the lowest exhaust gas temperatures in the industry, typically running 50 to 100 degrees cooler then competitive products.
For quicker, firmer shifts, the chip will enhance the transmission line pressures on all trucks with automatic transmissions. This is ideal for all towing situations and enhances transmission life. The valet setting returns the tune to stock and adds a 70 mph speed governor. Use the 6th position fast idle for cold-weather warm-ups, jump-starting other vehicles, and boosting engine-powered welders.
Installs in an hour or so, may require routing switch wire through firewall. Simply remove the ECM from the vehicle, plug in the 6 Position 4 Bank Chip, plug in the wire from the switch, and reinstall the ECM. The switch wire routing requires removing a small kick panel from the interior. Install the switch in a convenient place on the dash for accessibility, or discreetly hidden out of sight. (Switch installation requires drilling).
Bully Dog® was formed in 1998 in Aberdeen, Idaho. The founders of Bully Dog – Michael, Phillip, and Daryl Klassen - were heavily influenced by their father Harold's interest in improving vehicle performance. Several years prior to the company's inception, Harold had experimented with increasing performance on his diesel farm tractor by injecting propane into the engine's combustion chamber. In 1998, Bully Dog's owners took this concept and developed and patented a safe and effective propane injection system to enhance diesel engine performance. These systems were first sold out of their farm shop, but as demand increased, they moved the company to another location and officially organized Bully Dog. Bully Dog's mission was now to be recognized as the leader in the diesel performance industry. With the introduction of electronic components and software to improve performance, they began to research new types of products like intake and exhaust systems to complement their electronic components. In 2005, the company expanded its range of products to include performance products for gasoline-powered vehicles. Bully Dog is now able to offer a complete performance package.
