It looks like Audi is still inspired by its sales record in the United States. Last year the German manufacturer sold more than 100,000 vehicles. After presentation of the 2011 Audi A8, the company put its efforts on preparing the facelift for another model in this lineup. The planned debut of the next-gen S8, a more powerful sibling, is a logical step that will help Audi in its competition with such giants as BMW as well as Aston Martin, Mercedes and Porsche in the luxury car segment. This year the first public appearance of the new Audi S8 is going to be held at the Frankfurt Auto Show that will open its doors in September 15. The arrival to dealerships is scheduled in the first quarter of 2012.
Already in the first half of 2010 the spy shots of the improved, high performance S8 appeared on the Web pages. Along with photos there were a lot of speculations about its powertrain. All rumors were broken after Car and Driver posted the details. The next generation of the S8 will feature the latest A8s aluminum space frame and body, which will be powered by a twin-turbo V-8 engine, a joint work of Bentley and Audi. Able to produce 520 hp, the new vehicle is said to reach 60 mph from a standstill in 4 seconds. Along with power, the vehicle is said to surprise with its fuel efficiency.
There are no doubts that German automaker will do his utmost to upgrade the model with the advanced technologies and create a luxury interior. The latest reports suggest that with the expected price of $100,000, the 2012 S8 model should have more enhancements to inspire the brand's enthusiasts and beat the competitors.
