A themed vehicle was unveiled by Audi at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. It's the Q3 Vail, a compact SUV that targets young enthusiasts of winter sports due to its design. The concept has actually taken the name after famous winter sports venue in America. As for its sporty exterior, the SUV is painted in red featuring a gold pearl and the add-on body parts have a matte gray quartz-based finish. Glossy black and aluminum details are used to enhance the styling.
Other impressive design details are: the flared wheel arches and the running boards that are to be incorporated into the extensive range of Q3 accessories. To continue the winter sports theme, Audi developed the aluminum roof rails in order to transport snowboards or skis. The Q3 Vail is sitting on 20×8.5-inch wheels in a high-gloss finish. As for the interior, it continues the same color theme featuring a titanium gray Alcantara headliner.
The newly built vehicle has features designed specifically for winter sports fans: a charging station placed on the side wall of the trunk, a Thermos bottle in the cup holder between the front seats, sport LED lights showing the current charge level with the flashlights being able to warm your hands of ski boots thanks to an infrared heating element. The power comes from a 2.5L turbocharged, five-cylinder TFSI which delivers 314 hp and and 295 lb-ft of torque.
