The Retain Short Ram Air Intake System replaces your restrictive factory air intake system with a large, free flowing high performance Pro DRY S air filter and a mandrel-bent aluminum air intake tube. This system will dramatically increase airflow compared to the stock system, with resulting gains in horsepower and torque. You'll get improved performance you can feel. And this system looks so great; you'll quickly get into the habit of popping the hood to show it off!

The improvement starts with the Pro DRY S air filter, which combines high airflow and filtration efficiency with the convenience of oil-free maintenance. It contains 2 layers of randomly porous synthetic fabric, which allows approximately twice the airflow when compared to a typical stock air filter. The increased airflow results in more horsepower and torque, better throttle response and more miles per gallon. But this improved airflow and performance hasn't been gained at the expense of engine protection: the Pro DRY S has an excellent 99.2% filtration efficiency rating. The pleats in the filter are evenly spaced for greater dust holding capacity and the tips are rounded for better airflow. They're also 30% deeper than comparable aftermarket air filters for longer service intervals and greater dust holding capacity.

A specially developed 3-angle velocity stack smoothes the airflow transition from the air filter to the mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube. Unlike factory air intake tubes that have sound baffles and make awkward bends, the Takeda intake tube is designed to give the engine less restrictive breathing, incorporating larger diameters and smooth bends. The end result is the maximum possible airflow velocity. The intake tube is available in anodized black or polished clear-coat finish to add style to your engine bay.

The Retain Short Ram Air Intake System comes with everything needed for installation, including all couplers, hardware, and detailed instructions. Some systems include a black powder coated heat shield, to help isolate the air filter from engine heat and allow it to take in cooler air. The Retain system fits completely under the hood, so installation can be completed in usually 45 minutes or less. This system is backed by a 2-year limited warranty.

Shipping was fast. Was very pleased with the item. Had an issue installing it, it seemed to be short. But I was able to make it work after tugging it around and it finally fit. I didn't have any issue with the start up on the Mass Airflow Sensor. Took it for a test drive and I can tell that the intake it sucking in more air, which in terms less lag when shifting between gears. Overall I am very pleased with it and it looks good. Open up the hood and the chrome sticks out like a sore thumb. I may take the original air box out so that the filter its exposed. :)

Waste Of Money
I purchased this intake for a 2013 Subaru Legacy. The intake itself didn't fit per installation instructions. It was about 3/4" short of my air box. I also had to extend my crankcase vent about 5 inches to reach. Intake sounds great, but had to put my factory intake back on after 5 days due to my check engine light coming on, definitely don't recommend this if this is the only modification being made.

2014 Subaru Outback-Belton Tx. 11/25/20
On my 2014 Subaru Outback, the line from the intake to the engine was about 11 inches to short. Went to the auto parts got I foot tube, a connector and I was back in business .It took me longer to get the part than to put the intake on. Looks great and will know soon if the gas miles per gallon will be better. I have intake on all my cars, they all do better with them on. My first time for the TAKEDA intake. From what I read, Subaru frowns on oiled ( K & N ) filters which Takeda's is not.
