#2 Performance Fractional Step Drill Bit (KK4-3/16-A) by KnKut®. KnKut Step Drills are made from special moly alloy steel and gold surface treated for maximum lubricity. Dual flute construction drills clean accurate holes in thin materials. Use for all thin metals, rigid plastics such as Plexiglas and wood or composite materials with a thickness equal to or less than the step thickness. When drilling steel with 1/8" or greater thickness, a starter hole of the smallest step diameter will speed the drilling process.

Drill bits are not designed to enlarge existing holes. When force is exerted on the outer cutting lips (the weakest part of the drill bit), the tool will possibly chip and ultimately fail. Many users insist on drilling pilot holes prior to drilling the final desired hole size. Split point drill bits eliminate the need for pilot hole drilling. If the material does require a pilot hole, it is important to drill the smallest possible hole so that only the bit's chisel point engages the material. You will void your warranty if KnKut Drill Bits are used in this manner.
