The production run of the Tacoma by Toyota started in 1995 for the same model year. This pickup truck was available in rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions and came with a 2.7 L I4 producing 150 hp in the base. Two power plants, a 2.4 L I4 good for 142 hp and 3.4 L V6 capable of generating 190 hp, were optional. The list of gearboxes consisted of 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual. The next, second, generation became larger and moved to the mid-size class. The selection of power plants was shortened, though the line of transmissions was widened. Overall, eighteen different configurations of the Toyota Tacoma were available for the second generation.
