Vapor Canister Filter by Hastings®. The EVAP canister stores fuel vapors, preventing harmful emissions from being released into the atmosphere. The vapor filter installs in the canister and filters air that is drawn through during purging, when the air and fuel vapors are added to the intake air stream and burned in the engine.

The EVAP system prevents hydrocarbon emissions from being released from the vehicle fuel system and polluting the atmosphere. Fuel vapors are stored in the canister until the engine control computer determines when the vapors can be purged from the canister and added to the incoming air/fuel mixture to be burned in the engine’s combustion chambers. The vapor filter filters the air that is drawn through the canister during purging, preventing dirt and abrasives from being ingested into and damaging the engine.
