2008 Jeep Wrangler Light Bulbs

We ordered the Lumen bulbs for our 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited about 2 years ago. The old design seated pretty well into the headlamp plugs. Lighting quality was adequate. Unfortunately, one bulb burned out already this year. We ordered a new set of bulbs. However, the new bulbs don't seat as well. The new bulbs do slide into the plug, but they don't remain firmly seated. We examined both the old and new bulbs and saw that Lumen had changed the design of the plastic bulb housing. After some fumbling and cursing, we were able to get the new bulbs to work. We improved the tightness of the seating by increasing the thickness of the bulb housing: we stuck four rectangles of duct tape on the smooth side of the housing where it plugs into the plug. Now the light bulbs stay seated. (For now at least. We'll see how this kludge works over time.) We had this exact problem with another OEM bulb we tried before ordered the new Lumen bulbs, so unfortunately this is not just an issue with the Lumen bulb. (Did industry design standards change or something?) Depending on the vehicle you're trying to use these bulbs in, you may or may not experience this problem. But IF you get "lucky" like we did, you can try the duct tape solution. Electrical tape would work well, too. You just need to increase the thickness of that bulb housing by about a millimeter and give the lever inside the plug a rubbery surface to grip on.
